Jonathan and Kristy's July Prayer Letter

 NEXT GENERATION PREPARATION
„But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” I Corinthians 1:27

July was another busy month here on the Gypsy front. Some of the new Gypsy families that have moved to Mosnita (Moesh-neetsa) have several children, many of which have been coming regularly to our church services. It has been good to start establishing new relationships with them and with their parents. Although it can sometimes be hard to get to the parents through the children, often God uses children to allow us to get to know the parents. One evening after our church service, there were a few adults standing around outside. We managed to strike up a conversation (often the Gypsies in Mosnita are a little cold, and it can be difficult to talk to them), and several others came over. We stayed probably half an hour talking with some of the men, women, children, and teens, and it was a great opportunity to get to know them better.

Lola, Mariana’s saved daughter, has come back from Spain. She has not been living for the Lord, but she has come to church a few times recently, and seems to be open. Her boyfriend’s father came to one of the services too, and other new adults have been coming as well. When people are not playing blaring music, it is nice to be able to hold our services outside. Many people sit around and can hear the Word being preached, even if they don’t want to take part in the service. Praise the Lord for great opportunities!

There was a time or two when no teens showed up for the teen class this month, but one evening, there were several that came, including some new teens. Please pray for us as we seek to share the truth of the Gospel with them. Rebeca, a saved teen girl, has been coming pretty regularly. Please pray that she will want to live for the Lord and follow Him.

Lots of children have been coming to the children’s classes. They have not always been very attentive, and are often quite wild. However, I know the Lord can still allow His words to get into their ears and hearts. We would appreciate your prayers for the children, that they would be quiet and attentive, so that they will learn from the Bible.

Kristy has completed her language lessons for now, and continues to improve her Romanian. She will work on practicing what she knows for now, and after that, we will see if she needs more language lessons. Thank you for your prayers for this important aspect of ministry!

The work on the exterior of the house is still not finished. Florin (Floor-een), the saved man that has been doing the work, had some tendons break in his wrist, so he has not been able to do much. His car also died, so he has not had a good way to get to our house to finish the work. This weekend, he is hoping to be able to finish the little bit that is left to be done.

July 28th-30th, we had VBS (Vacation Bible School) for the children in Mosnita. There were around 40 children and young people each night, plus women, and even some men. My aunt and her youngest son who is 15 came from the States to see our ministry, and they helped with the VBS. It went very well, and for the most part, the children were extremely well-behaved. We hope that the seeds of God’s Word that were planted will grow in their hearts.

Our co-workers, the Freel’s, will be leaving the beginning of September to go to the States for a few months on furlough. We will miss them and their help with our ministry, and would appreciate your prayers as we take over some of their responsibilities.

Thank you so much for your prayers and for your part in the Lord’s work among the Gypsies in Romania!

Serving Him,
Jonathan and Kristy Heisey
